Yesterday I geared up to take a new series of photographs of the Tolo toys we started to switch adapt this autumn and I was really pleased with a picture of the Safari Vehicle – I think it’s the tiger that makes it for me.
There are five Tolo toys we switch adapt. Three of them, a tractor, construction and the safari vehicle are adapted with wireless switch technology.
The Tolo First Friends train set is adapted with an infra-red switch that makes it work in “momentary” switch mode. That means the train only chugs along when the switch is pressed. Momentary mode works best for children beginning to develop their switch skill as it gives them a “reward” for their efforts (cause and effect training)
The fifth adapted Tolo toy is a car – Rednet our distribution partner in Switzerland calls it the “Tolo Cabriolet”
Tolo toys offer lots of sensory stimulation to children. They will especially like the:
- engine noises on start-up
- honking horn noises
- flashing head lights and brake lights
- movement, as they drive away
